AC Milan, the 19-time Serie A champions, are ready to face off against many other clubs as they look to replace Joshua Zirkzee with Nigerian attacker Victor Boniface, according to Soccernet.ng. Boniface joined Bayer Leverkusen from Union Saint-Gilloise for over €20 million and has established his worth in his first season, scoring 16 goals and providing eight assists. However, previous rumours indicated that former Serie A champions Juventus are following Boniface’s status at Bayer Leverkusen and may attempt to recruit him if Dusan Vlahovic leaves in the summer.AC Milan ready to compete with Juventus for Victor Boniface's signature as an alternative for Super Eagles-eligible forward.

The Rossoneri may also be interested in signing the Nigerian, having missed out on him in the previous summer transfer window due to a breakdown in negotiations with the Super Eagles star, who was their long-term objective. Milan is particularly interested in Bologna star Zirkzee, who can also play for the Nigerian Super Eagles due to his mother’s Nigerian origin. However, his club is willing to let him go for a reputed €75 million, which could compel Milan to choose a lower-cost option if negotiations between the two Serie A clubs fail.

Nonetheless, they have identified Boniface, who is expected to cost them €50 million, setting up a duel between them and Juventus in the forthcoming transfer season as both compete for his signing. Boniface is still under contract with the San Siro club until June 2028, so any interested parties would have to make compelling offers to lure him away from Leverkusen.
