Joshua Zirkzee, a Bologna striker, has been linked with Juventus, Manchester United, and Arsenal, but he is said to favour Milan. The Dutch centre-forward has been a sensation in Serie A this season, scoring 10 goals and providing four assists in 28 games to enable the Rossoblu pull away in fourth place and secure a Champions League ticket.
The Bayern Munich youth product is anticipated to leave this summer for a large profit, and there is no shortage of clubs interested in his talents. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Zirkzee prefers Milan and has instructed his agents to help facilitate this dream transfer. The Rossoneri have a lengthy history in Dutch football, dating back to the iconic trio of Marco van Basten, Ruud Gullit, and Frank Rijkaard.
According to the same article, Milan is drafting a package that should persuade Bologna, which includes €50 million in cash and ownership of Alexis Saelemaekers.
Belgian international Saelemaekers is already on loan at Stadio Dall’Ara this season and would like to make the move permanent. Given that Manchester United paid €75 million plus bonuses for Atalanta’s Rasmus Hojlund, Bologna believes Zirkzee is worth a similar figure. Another reason Bologna needs to monetise this as much as possible is because, due to the €8.5 million purchase from Bayern Munich in 2022, they owe the German giants 40% of the eventual sell-on fee.
