Cole Kmet describes Justin Fields’ departure as a teammate as “extremely upsetting.”
Before the deal that sent quarterback Justin Fields to Pittsburgh, Bears head coach Matt Eberflus called Fields’ close teammates to check in with them, knowing that not all of his players would be happy about losing Fields.
This included Bears tight end Cole Kmet, who claimed that until Eberflus called, he had planned to attend a St. Patrick’s Day weekend celebration in Chicago, but that after that, he decided he wasn’t in the mood to celebrate.
Kmet stated on the CHGO Bears podcast, “I was going to hit the city and go out, but I got a call from Flus and the people with the Bears, and I decided to stay in after the news with Justin.” “You kind of felt like the writing was on the wall with that, but it was obviously really upsetting that it came to that and where it was at that moment.”
Nevertheless, Kmet expressed his gratitude to Eberflus for agreeing to speak with him about the circumstance.
