Jonah Williams is hoping to stay in Minnesota for a longer period of time this time around after only playing for the Vikings for one day in 2021. The defensive lineman will sign a contract with the Vikings, as reported by Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.

Williams is expected to sign a one-year contract worth up to $1.5 million, as reported by Minnesota’s Darren Wolfson of 5 Eyewitness News. According to Fowler, there is $350,000 in guaranteed money in the arrangement. Williams paid the group a visit earlier on Monday.

The former UDFA started his career with the Rams for more than a year before being waived in the 2021 season. He made an impression on the Vikings, but after an unsuccessful physical, Minnesota cut bait. After rejoining the Rams practice team, Williams went on to win a Super Bowl ring that season.Vikings to sign seasoned defensive lineman Jonah Williams for a single season.

Over the previous two years, he was given more responsibility, and in the 2023 campaign, he started 16 of his 17 games. Despite recording 49 stops and two sacks by the conclusion of the season, Williams was only ranked 88th out of 130 eligible interior defenders by Pro Football Focus.

Marcus Dixon, the defensive line coach in Minnesota, and Williams were assistants on the Rams staff in the past. In Los Angeles, Williams also ran across Kevin O’Connell, the head coach of the Vikings and a former Rams offensive lineman.

This season, the Vikings have been working bolstering the defensive line with seasoned players. The Vikings have signed Jerry Tillery in addition to re-signing Jonathan Bullard.
