Manager’s “playful slap” left former Rangers star Patterson “embarrassed.”
According to reports, Scotland international Nathan Patterson was “embarrassed” during a row at a training camp that was started by manager Sean Dyche’s “jocular slap” on the head.
There are rumors that Everton manager Dyche gave the former Rangers starlet a “stronger than intended” head slap, which inflamed players’ feelings against the management.
The Daily Mail claims that Dyche’s “slap,” which was allegedly meant to be innocuous but resulted in a fight during a lunch, ruined “an otherwise good-natured evening.”
Patterson, a graduate of the Rangers academy, allegedly felt ashamed of being at the center of the altercation, and other players were incensed about it.
After the altercation, James Tarkowski allegedly pulled Dyche aside to help defuse the situation.
According to the story, Dyche then expressed regret to Patterson for the “playful slap” incident.
Everton insiders are alleged to have refuted any talk of a brawl, stating instead that the event was a “clumsy joke that backfired”.
Apparently, everything went according to plan for the remainder of Everton’s training camp in the Algarve.
According to reports, Patteron participated in the last training session on Friday before Everton’s flight return to England, and the incident was settled by Friday afternoon.
