Ibrahimovic appoints former United forward Jovan Kirovski to the AC Milan board.
Jovan Kirovski, a former attacker for Manchester United, is allegedly in talks to join AC Milan in a front-office capacity.
Journalist Fabrizio Romano said on X that Zlatan Ibrahimovic, another former Manchester United player, has also indicated interest in signing Kirovski to a Serie A team.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic is interested in adding former LA Galaxy player Jovan Kirovski to AC Milan’s board. Zlatan was signed by Kirovski to the LA Galaxy in 2018, and he has since traveled to Milano for talks. Discussions to come,” the message said.
Up until January of this year, Kirovski was the MLS club LA Galaxy’s technical director for more than ten years, during which he supervised the team’s 2014 MLS Cup success.
Since then, though, Kirovski’s time in Los Angeles has been more difficult as the team has missed the playoffs five out of the last seven seasons. The club faced transfer sanctions in 2019 as a result of exceeding wage budget and roster restrictions.
In 1993, Kirovski began his football career with United before moving on to pursue a career in post-playing. The American’s career took a turn for the worse during his three years at Old Trafford; nevertheless, it was not until 1996 that he transferred to Borussia Dortmund that he saw real success.
The striker, who was a member of Dortmund’s winning team in the 1996–97 season, became the first American player in history to win the UEFA Champions League.
However, Kirovski is not the only former United player linked in a potential big trade with AC Milan.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic played for United from 2016 to 2018, and he is currently an advisor to the Italian powerhouses.
In contrast to Kirovski, the Swedish striker was a vital member of the team and eventually became Jose Mourinho’s first choice.
Despite having a short stay at Old Trafford, Ibrahimovic made a significant contribution to the team during his 53 games for United, tallying 29 goals and dishing out 10 assists. (Transfermarkt)
In addition, he was instrumental in helping United win the FA Community Shield in 2016–17 and the Europa League in 2017, the last major championship the team would win until Erik ten Hag joined more than five years later.
