BREAKING NEWS: Victor Wembanyama Responds To Warriors Posterization Freshman Trayce Jackson-Davis.
Victor Wembanyama isn’t losing any sleep over getting posterized by Trayce Jackson-Davis.
During the fourth quarter of Monday’s San Antonio Spurs vs. Golden State Warriors game, Trayce Jackson-Davis put on quite the poster on Victor Wembanyama. After the game, Wembanyama was questioned about the play, but he seemed unfazed.
“It’s nothing to get dunked on,” Wembanyama declared. It is a feature of the game. Many people dunk on me, and I get many dunks in return. However, I believe that I block more frequently than I am dunked on, so that is a plus.
Wembanyama leads the league in blocks per game (3.4), therefore he clearly blocks a lot more shots than he is put in the basket. Despite his best efforts, Jackson-Davis was able to slam the ball in despite his attempts to block him at the rim. Here’s that amazing poster dunk, in case you missed it.
As Wembanyama points out, it is ultimately just a part of the game, particularly for someone like him who has to defend the rim. You respect that the 20-year-old won’t back down from his work in order to avoid being made fun of.
When they see that it might happen, a good number of players simply move aside out of fear of being made fun of on social media. But Wembanyama isn’t worried about it in the slightest.
He may be having sleepless nights, though, because the Spurs dropped this game 112-102. Wembanyama finished the game with 27 points, 14 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal, and 2 blocks, however he only managed to shoot 3-9 from beyond the arc and 10-25 from the field overall. With the defeat, the Spurs fell to 14-51 and appear destined to finish the season in the basement of the Western Conference standings.
Regarding the Dunk, Trayce Jackson-Davis spoke
When questioned about his posterization of Wembanyama during the press conference, Jackson-Davis disclosed that he had promised Kevon Looney prior to the game that he would attempt a dunk on the Frenchman.
Jackson-Davis stated, “I saw that he overplayed it, he overplayed it to my right.” “Since I’m left-handed, I assume I spun and reached for my left hand before having to stomp on him. I told Loon before the game that I would just try him if I had the chance. In the end, you are dunked on occasionally and you dunk on people occasionally. It’s merely a play in basketball.”
At the end, Jackson-Davis expressed the same opinions as Wembanyama. The 24-year-old did play well here and seems to have a decent head on his shoulders. With 13 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 assists in the end, Jackson-Davis achieved his sixth double-double of the year.
In less than a week, this was the rookie’s second significant highlight play, and he is beginning to establish himself. Jackson-Davis often stopped Giannis Antetokounmpo during the Warriors’ earlier-month matchup with the Milwaukee Bucks. He was chosen by Golden State with the 57th choice in the 2023 NBA Draft, and as of right now, he appears to be a real steal.
Returning to the game at hand, the Warriors’ victory also signified the first time they had triumphed in a game this season without Stephen Curry. The Warriors, who now have a 34-30 record, would be hoping he can return soon as they were 0-4 before this one when he didn’t play.
