Dalton Schultz, a tight end for the Texans, decided not to test free agency the next week and instead re-sign with the organization this week. One of the main reasons he gave for his decision was that he wanted to play quarterback C.J. Stroud’s side.

After spending five years with the Dallas Cowboys, Schultz signed a one-year contract with the Texans last season. He expressed gratitude to Stroud for playing with him during his first season in Houston on the Pat McAfee Show.

“C.J. has rapidly established himself as one of the best quarterbacks in the league, to have a guy come in like that, step in, take the reins, and hit the ground running,” Schultz remarked. Speaking with C.J., I was struck by how much faith and confidence he exudes, as well as how he handles himself. He is truly exceptional. That was one of the main reasons I wanted to return.

I wanted boys just like him to be all around me. Individuals who energize a football team, and he certainly accomplishes that, in my opinion. Being a Texan is fantastic right now, and I’m thrilled to be back.In an eager decision to stick with C.J. Stroud, Dalton Schultz decided to extend his contract with the Texans.

Schultz highlighted Stroud’s dedication to further development, especially following his outstanding 2023 Rookie of the Year campaign.

“When you watch a quarterback who can make every throw, over and over, and again, and again, and realize he’s not quite there,” Schultz added, maintaining his humility. “How can I get better, though?’ he kept asking himself despite all of his success.”

With Stroud now under contract for another three years, Schultz anticipates catching passes from him in big games going forward.
