Pittsburgh until the Pittsburgh Steelers are still puzzling out their quarterback issue, new offensive coordinator Arthur Smith is acclimating to Kenny Pickett until they decide which way to take in 2024.

Smith and Pickett met in South Florida and had a “great” discussion regarding the present state of affairs, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler. The organization has begun “rebuilding” around the third-year quarterback as they evaluate alternative options.

“Even as they sort out their quarterback outlook, the Steelers have started the process of rebuilding third-year passer Kenny Pickett,” writes Fowler.

“I’ve heard that Arthur Smith, the new offensive coordinator, recently spent time with Pickett in and that their meeting was “great” in South Florida. Many people in Indianapolis, including some who were affiliated with the organization, believed that Pickett may be given another opportunity following a dismal 2023 season, partly because of the offense’s general difficulties under former offensive coordinator Matt Canada. Smith ought to assist Pickett in utilizing all of his abilities.

Along with a few other veteran alternatives like Kirk Cousins and Russell Wilson, the Steelers have also been linked to Justin Fields and J.J. McCarthy. However, it’s expected that by the beginning of the season, they will decide which of the two Mason Rudolphs they prefer.
